Our Little Bagged Lunch Mission

Every Tuesday morning at the curbside in front of St. Casimir Church in Canton, between 7:30 and 9:30 a.m., volunteers from the Pastorate and the greater Canton and Patterson Park communities drop of bagged lunches which are then delivered to the Saint Vincent de Paul Society’s Beans & Bread Center and the Helping Up Mission for the homeless and needy.

If you have questions or would like to volunteer to help, please contact Pam Protani at (443) 413-8329 or email her at pamelapro@aol.com and check the St. Casimir bulletin weekly for updates.

Quantities

We ask each person to provide at least ten (10) bagged lunches, and more if you are able.

Lunch Bag Items

Each bagged lunch should include:
- A meat and cheese, meat-only, or cheese-only sandwich on any kind of seedless bread with any kind of pre-cooked meat or cheese.
- chips or something crunchy,
- a sweet treat or dessert (such as cookies or a pudding cup),
- Apples, pears, oranges, tangerines, bananas or other fresh fruit; or a fruit cup or applesauce with a disposable spoon,
- Paper napkins.

Please do NOT use or include:

- Bread with seeds,
- Lettuce, tomato, or other toppings,
- Peanut butter, peanuts or other nut products due to allergies

Preparation Instructions

- The sandwich does not need to be cut in half (but may be).
- Condiments (like butter or mayonnaise) may be put directly on the sandwich, or provided in packets.              - Please try to include items with more fiber such as the fruit listed above and wheat bread.
- The sandwich needs to be put into a sandwich bag or wrapped in waxed paper or aluminum foil.
- Please feel free to write a note of encouragement or greeting on the paper bag. For younger hands a drawing on the outside of the bag brings a smile to those receiving the same and lets them know they are not forgotten. More importantly, they are not being judged by their circumstances.

Drop-off Instructions

- Curbside in FRONT of St. Casimir Church, 1036 South Kenwood, every Tuesday between 7:30 and 9:30 a.m.
- Be careful and watch for children arriving for school across the street at St. Casimir School.
